Abstract. In the article the data of the sociological study conducted by the Department of Public Relations and Applied Political Science of Kazan (Volga Region) Federal University in the Republic of Tatarstan in 2014 and devoted to the social well-being of students are presented and interpreted. The conclusion about the political apathy of modern students is drawn, however, it is noted that this situation is not of the total character. The authors point out the interest of young people in political events, as well as ability to evaluate the existing political situation. At the same time it is stated that, despite the opportunity to actively participate in political process, the students clearly limit their political activity.
