Abstract. The article conducts the analysis of the process of the formation of bioart as a particular case of scientific art - a transdisciplinary area, within the boundaries of which the synthesis of discourse thinking and intuitive judgment is exercised presupposing the adaptation of the methods of natural and exact sciences for the formation of scientifically based art, and the methods of art - for the formation of new scientific theories. The potential of the integration of art and biological sciences including the potential of applying the technologies of synthetic biology in actual art is revealed.
