Abstract. The article considers the problem of economic gap between the countries of the North and the South, and describes the mechanism of the reproduction of unequal economic relations in the conditions of late capitalism in terms of the conception of cognitive capitalism. Recommendations are given, and guided by them the countries of the South could neutralize economic gap. Partially these recommendations can be applied to Russia, because the structural parameters of its economy are close to those of the most developed countries of the South.
