Abstract. In the article the authors analyzing the Bashkir folk songs and instrumental tunes consider examples from works devoted to one of the manifestations of monody - heterophony. A hypothesis about the primordiality of collective creativity in the Bashkir musical folklore is proposed. Published and verbal information about the Bashkir folk singers, instrumentalists and collective singing, which confirms directly and indirectly the main points of the paper, is used. The most valuable material concerning heterophonic manifestations was noted in the works of S. G. Rybakov, particularly in his monograph "Music and Songs of the Ural Muslims with an Essay of Their Life".
