Abstract. The article deals with the issues of traditional education in the Karachay families, which plays an important role in the formation of the mentality of the ethnos. The author studies the moral and labor education of the rising generation and concludes that traditional upbringing, which formed in pre-revolutionary period, continues playing a significant role nowadays despite a great number of reasons that contributed to the loss of some moral and ethical standards.
