RENAISSANCE OF WORLD EMPIRES: CATEGORY OF CIVILIZATION IN THE CONTEXT OF WORLD SYSTEMIC ANALYSIS

Abstract. The article analyses the relation of the notions "civilization" and "world system". The author ascertains the identity of the categories "local civilization" and "world empire". It is proved that the development of local civilizations (world empires) happens due to the total influence of the capitalist system ("world economy") on all the spheres of life; as a result the coexistence of global and local civilizations isn’t controversial. It is demonstrated that civilizations are maximum forms of the implementation of cultural identity ("status groups").
