"TWO PATHS" BY S. GUBAIDULINA: SACRED AND PROFANE LOVE (INTERPRETATION OF THE "STORY" OF MARY AND MARTHA IN THE CONCERTO FOR TWO SOLO VIOLAS AND ORCHESTRA)

Abstract. In the article one of the aspects of the notion "religious idea in Sofia Gubaidulina’s creativity" is revealed. The considered period (the 90s of the XX century) provoked "religious boom" within the post-Soviet space, but special attention is paid to the phenomenon of Gubaidulina’s creativity, which can be called exaggeratedly religious even out of the context of the movement "new sacredness". The author focuses on the genre of concerto that turns out to be initially "predisposed" to express the religious idea. The dual nature of the concerto "Two Paths" allows interpreting the New Testament story of Lazarus’s sisters Mary and Martha "close to the text" of Holy Writ and at the same time leaving it within the framework of generalized programme nature.
