MENTALITY AS A SOCIO-POLITICAL PHENOMENON: EXPERIENCE OF THEORETICAL INVESTIGATION

Abstract. The article presents the author’s original interpretation of mentality as a theoretical phenomenon from the viewpoint of its influence on socio-political processes. The paper introduces broad methodology for the analysis of mentality emphasizing its socio-political aspects, possibilities to examine it within the framework of the concept "class consciousness". Relying on the structural form of mentality "nucleus - periphery" the author argues for the higher level of the variability of peripheral layers that are exposed to information processing and come out as motivators of socio-political behaviour.
