Abstract. On the basis of the materials of the State Archive of Socio-Political History of Tambov Region the article presents the results of the prosopographical research of the collective image of the youth of the Southern Region of Penza in 1937. In the process of the conducted study the data were received, which contain information about the number, age, education level and occupation of the Komsomol members and non-union youth; also the main causes of the growth of the Komsomol organization and the motives of exclusion from the All-Union Lenin Young Communist League are analyzed.
