Abstract. The article examines the essence of the process of religious identity constructing. Special attention is paid to considering religious identity as a theoretical construction, the content of which is determined by objective contradictions expressed with the system of oppositions in theory. The multilevel nature of religious identity, its correlation with the types of religious identity and levels of religiosity are substantiated.
