THE CATEGORY OF REASON IN ANTIQUE AND MODERN EUROPEAN METAPHYSICS: A COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS

Nikulina Anzhelika Gennad'evna
Kursk State Medical University

Abstract. The article accomplishes the historical and philosophical conceptualization of the notion of reason. The author aims to explicate the category of reason as an original notion of antique and modern European ontology. As a result of a comparative analysis it is ascertained that the first tradition is characterized by extremely wide, metaphysical interpretation of reason as substance, and the second one is characterized by narrow, essentially physical interpretation. The author implicitly reveals transformations of such notions as "nature", "space" and "time" in the metaphysical chronotope. In conclusion, reasons for such transformations are specified.
Key words and phrases: причина, материя, пространство, время, природа, физика, метафизика, reason, matter, space, time, nature, physics, metaphysics
