Abstract. With the approach of the 100 th anniversary the events of the revolution of 1917 naturally continue to attract the attention of researchers. The reason for this phenomenon is the defection to the side of the opponents of the tsarist regime of the peasantry in the person of its armed vanguard - the 5.5-million Russian army. This article is devoted to the explanation of the interrelation of the events, which became a prologue of the revolution of 1917.
