INDEPENDENCE AS AN "INVENTED TRADITION" OF POSTCOLONIAL SOCIETY (BY THE EXAMPLE OF INDONESIA)

Kirchanov Maksim Valer'evich
Voronezh State University

Abstract. In the article the concept "freedom" as an "invented tradition" and a collective place of historical and political memory is analyzed. The author supposes that the concept "freedom" has been actively used for the formation and development of Indonesian political identity and the idea about the state-nation. Political texts are analyzed as a collective imaginary "place of memory" and an "invented tradition". Museums are considered as a localized in space form of historical memory actualization. Military parades are perceived as a political ritual and a form of the actualization of the invented tradition.
