FORMATION AND ACTIVITY OF RESEARCH INSTITUTES OF KARACHAY AND CHERKESSIA (1931-1942)

Abstract. The article deals with the process of the formation of research institutes in Karachay and Cherkess autonomous regions, the development of their organizational structures, the problems and procedure of material and financial support, the main directions of the activity, and the research subjects. The author notes that the lack of budgetary funding led to the fact that the research institutes were closed and reconstructed, their staff was extremely limited in quantity and the research and publishing activity was impeded. The issues of interaction between scientific, state and party institutions are also touched upon in the paper.
