SOCIAL MEMORY AS A MANIFESTATION OF CULTURE

Abstract. The article considers the essence of social memory; its content and development specificity are analyzed. On the basis of the conducted research the peculiarities of social memory transformation and their interaction with culture are revealed. Owing to this the fixation and preservation of social information in the strata of cultural experience take place and the continuity of generations is implemented. That’s why social memory represents a process of information translation in time and socio-cultural space.
