Abstract. The article examines the phenomenon of sounding in the aspect of the philosophy of art. The ontological character of the philosophy of art is determined; the evolutional moments of sounding (the German romantics, A. F. Losev, M. M. Bakhtin, M. Heidegger and others) are substantiated in historical-philosophical and onto-esthetic aspects; the characteristic of the avant-garde innovations of W. Kandinsky is given; the metaphysical meaning of sounding is determined.
