Abstract. The article is devoted to the history of Christianity dissemination in East Asia and the identification of the peculiarities of the advancement of Christian (Catholic, Protestant, Orthodox) church structures into the countries of the region. It is proved that Christian missionary work in East Asia became a unique phenomenon, as the role of a Christianized object was performed by the ancient civilization, the main characteristic of which was orientation to continuity and tradition. All this was the main reason of the poor effectiveness of Christian missions in East Asia during the whole period of their existence.
