INTEGRATION OF THE TURKIC WORLD AT THE PRESENT STAGE

Abstract. The article is devoted to the study of a topical theme touching upon an issue of the integration of the post-Soviet "Turkic republics" and the Republic of Turkey, and also the appearance of the "Turkic factor" in contemporary international relations. After the disintegration of the USSR Ankara makes significant efforts to join the Turkic states assigning itself a central role in the integration process. Various formats of interaction are being gradually formed: summits of the heads of the Turkic republics, kurultays, interparliamentary assemblies, the Council of Cooperation, summits of the Council of Cooperation of Turkic-speaking countries. One may speak about the institutionalization of the cooperation of the Turkic republics. The indifferent position of Turkmenia and Uzbekistan, and also the multi-vector foreign policy of Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan impede Turkic integration plans. At the current historical stage it is early to talk about the united Turkic world, however the step-by-step plans of Ankara on the integration of the Turkic republics may lead to the formation of a more influential "Turkic factor" in international relations in the near future.
