INFLUENCE OF SOCIAL MYTH-MAKING ON TRANSFORMATIONS OF THE RUSSIAN GERMANS’ IDENTITY

Abstract. The article attempts to analyze the influence of social myth-making on the transformations of the Russian Germans’ ethnic identity. The results of the research show that close relationship between social myth-making and the construction of the identity of the Russian Germans depended on uneven social development and contradictions between Germany and Russia. The author proves that the Germans living in Russia and the Germans living in Germany have different historical memory and different correlation of the structure of self-perception.
