CAUSES OF OCCURRENCE OF NEW RELIGIOSITY AND DESTRUCTIVE INFLUENCE OF NEW RELIGIOUS MOVEMENTS ON THE CONTEMPORARY RUSSIAN SOCIETY

Abstract. The tendency of the revival of religious consciousness and the occurrence of religious pluralism expressed in devotion to both traditional confessions and new religious movements, which launched their vigorous activity within the territory of the state, can be observed in the contemporary Russian society. The paper reveals the notion "new religious movements", points at the peculiarity of this phenomenon. Special attention is paid to the causes of searching for new religiosity among the youth. The author also indicates possible destructive influence of some new religious movements.
