Abstract. The article examines the "sounding" space of the church, which is expressed in rhythmically arranged sound material presented by bell-ringing and religious singing. It also represents one of the components of the cultural-archetypical text in the church symbolics. The author notes not only the sacred meaning of the symbolics of the church music, but also emphasizes its socio-cultural orientation. Thus, bell-ringing performed a significant socio-cultural function of notification about any festive events, impending disasters, and the start of important economic works in the history of the Russian people. Likewise it was used for many ceremonies and symbolic acts.
