HYPERREALISM AS A CREATIVE METHOD AND ARTISTIC DIRECTION OF THE SECOND HALF OF THE XX CENTURY

Borisova Anna Gennad'evna, Yukhnina Ol'ga Yur'evna
Saint Petersburg University of the Humanities and Social Sciences

Abstract. The article discusses the notion of hyperrealism as one of realistic artistic directions. The objective of the paper is to identify the causes of the formation and development of hyperrealism as a creative method in contemporary art, as unordinary perception of modern reality, as an ambiguous aesthetic technique. The authors conclude that hyperrealism is a result of the critical discrepancy of the surrounding world and the modern man, a result of the protest of the individual against soulless mass culture, acute experience of the personality’s displacement from the central place in contemporary culture, his/her alienation.
