TRANSFORMATION OF CONFESSIONAL SPACE OF THE TWO-SUBJECT NORTH CAUCASIAN REPUBLICS (KABARDINO-BALKARIA AND KARACHAY-CHERKESSIA) AT THE POST-SOVIET DEVELOPMENTAL STAGE

Abstract. The article is devoted to studying the changes that occurred in the confessional space of Kabardino-Balkaria and Karachay-Cherkessia in the post-Soviet period. The author provides indicators on the growing number of Muslim and Orthodox religious organizations, examines new forms of changes in the confessional space - appearance of non-traditional religious movements of sectarian nature, formation of fundamentalist trend within Islamic religion, revival of pagan religious system.
