Abstract. The article presents the results of studying the assortment of fabrics produced in the 1980-1990s by the Leningrad industrial enterprise. The paper aims to analyze the artistic qualities in the fabric designs. On the basis of Soviet periodicals, tangible materials and photo-materials the author identifies and justifies the textile ornament themes and their variations in the textiles and designs. The paper emphasizes the variety of expressive means in the designs, proposes to use the findings in the educational process and project activity.
