PSYCHOLOGICAL WAR IN THE CAMPAIGN OF 1942 ON THE SOVIET-GERMAN FRONT (BY THE EXAMPLE OF MALGOBEK DEFENSIVE OPERATION)

Abstract. The article examines the measures taken by conflicting parties to organize and conduct psychological war and counterpropaganda during the 1942 Battle of the Caucasus by the example of Malgobek defensive operation. The author emphasizes the importance of propaganda and counterpropaganda under conditions of military confrontation on the Soviet-German front in the mentioned period. The paper considers the measures taken within psychological war and targeted both at military men and civilians. The different forms of propaganda (radio programs, leaflets, etc.) are analyzed. Special attention is paid to the activity of front line propagandists.
