"THE RED POPPY" ("THE RED FLOWER") BALLET IN THE CONTEXT OF THE SOVIET-CHINESE POLITICAL AND CULTURAL RELATIONS

Abstract. The article considers the influence of political conjuncture on the scenic destiny of "The Red Poppy" ballet, discovers the motives for renaming the ballet into "The Red Flower". By the concrete example the paper shows that the development of art and political realia are closely connected and concludes that studying art problems involves studying certain historical and socio-political issues. The analysis of the scenic destiny of "The Red Poppy" ballet leads to the conclusion that at the beginning of the XXI century political influence on art decreases.
