ALIMONY OBLIGATIONS: FROM ANTIQUITY TO MODERNITY

Abstract. The article provides a comprehensive study of the concept of alimony obligations; in particular, the authors identify and analyze the stages of historical development and formation of this institution. The paper has an interdisciplinary nature, it is written at the junction of history and law. The analysis of legislation on alimony testifies that such legal relations originated in extreme antiquity and have been developed over the centuries. The authors conclude that nowadays alimony obligations are described in great detail, but legislation and law enforcement practice are still imperfect.
