ON THE THRESHOLD OF A GLOBAL CRASH

Abstract. Continuous evolution of domestic music associated with liberation ideas resulted in its blossom at the beginning of the XX century. Heroic and romantic images, including those based on associations with spontaneous natural phenomena, were widely used. The idea of emancipation (for the first time such conception was developed on a large scale in "The Latvian Requiem" by E. Melngailis) becomes the key one for the composers, who introduced the theme of liberation. Explicit implementation of the revolutionary theme begins in the 1910s, and the basic tendencies of these years are most clearly represented in the symphony-cantata "Caucasus" by S. Lyudkevych.
