Abstract. The article deals with the development trends of the English children’s book graphics at the end of the XIX - the beginning of the XX century in the context of creating L. Carroll’s tale "Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland" and "Through the Looking-Glass". The researcher analyses the most famous works by the English masters, including illustrations by the author himself, L. Carroll. On the basis of the analysis, the conclusions about the formation of the characteristic features of children’s book graphics development in the given period, which became a foundation for the further technical and stylistic development of this genre, are drawn. The relevance of the article is in the fact that the subsequent generations of artists (including modern illustrators), designing "Alice...", were somehow influenced by the masters of the English Art Nouveau, borrowing and stylizing the techniques they formed that became the classics of the illustrative genre.
