J. S. BACH’S "ST JOHN PASSION": ANALYSIS OF MUSICAL COMPOSITION IN THE CONTEXT OF SYNTHESIS OF ARTS

Submitted: 29.10.2019
Abstract. The article is devoted to the problem of interaction of music and other forms of art in the epoch of baroque. J. S. Bach’s musical composition is analysed comprehensively: the semantic analysis aims to identify universal techniques of artistic expressiveness and the synesthetic analysis helps to reveal the deeper, non-verbalizable meaning of the musical text. The author concludes that using the comprehensive analysis methods while studying baroque music allows achieving deeper understanding of musical language and revealing the image of a musical composition of the remote epoch.
