DEVELOPMENTAL PERIODS OF THE MODERN CHINESE MONUMENTAL PAINTING (THE MIDDLE OF THE XX - THE BEGINNING OF THE XXI CENTURY)

Abstract. The article is devoted to studying the modern Chinese monumental painting of the middle of the XX - the beginning of the XXI century. Within this chronological framework, the author identifies five developmental periods of the modern Chinese monumental painting. Evolutionary process and aesthetic peculiarities of each period are examined. The author analyses the influence of political situation, economic and social processes on the formation of the original features of a particular period. The researcher’s attention is focused on the problem of preserving traditions and developing innovative trends in the modern Chinese monumental painting.
