Abstract.
In the article the peculiarities of market trade organization in the Lower Volga region during the Great Patriotic War are shown. Market trade significance for the food supply of the region population is considered. The problems and difficulties, which local authorities were confronted with while controlling regional markets work are defined, the shortcomings of their activity are emphasized and the ways of their elimination are shown.
