Abstract.
One of the main views on the phenomenon of comic in aesthetics and literary criticism is its representation through the lenses of contradictions. Within the framework of studying fiction comic text, first of all the implementation of such contradictions in the language of the author is of interest. This article considers the linguistic expression of contradiction between significant and insignificant as a comic contradiction typical of the English comic prose.
