Abstract.
The paper presents the dynamics of linguistic situation in Louisiana and its characteristic at the present stage. Main attention is given to the functioning of the variants of French in Louisiana, the state of the USA - a country where English is the only official language. The article shows the peculiarities of the use of French in the spheres of communication controlled by the state and interpersonal communication. Laws adopted in Louisiana and related to the use of languages in different spheres in this state of the USA are also given in the paper.
