Abstract.
In the article the issue of the choice and specific peculiarities of methods used in design activity are considered. The author makes an attempt to comprehend theoretically and to systematize the methods of forming in design. The practical importance of method as a means of the optimization of design activity, the specific structure of design method as a synthesis of intellectual and practical actions, the forming of the system of the methods of design activity at different historical stages of the development and formation of design and method as a way to the achievement of the projected goal are studied.
