Abstract.
In this paper a sociocultural phenomenon of lie and deception is considered in the light of pessimistic moral-philosophic Schopenhauer’s thought (“Aphorisms of Worldly Wisdom”) and F. La Rochefoucauld’ ideas (“Maxims and Moral Reflections”). The author singles out the peculiarities of pessimistic approach to the issue, presents and analyzes the thinkers’ key ideological positions in relation to the mentioned problematic.
