Abstract.
The article discusses the problem of the efficient use of the holds of self-defence and the detention of the criminal in aquatic environment and, consequently, the necessity to study and introduce into educational process the elements of self-defence in water. The authors analyze the modern types of wrestling “Aquathlon”, “hand-to-hand fight in water”, “knife fight in water” and the possibility to use them by police officers in their official duty.
