Abstract. The article is devoted to the problems of Russian power elite transformation in post-soviet period and to the peculiarities of a political leader image creating. Political image is considered as a complex, multiple-factor phenomenon, its specificity is connected with politics peculiarity as аn activity type, its place in people's life and a political leader's activity character. In this connection special attention is paid to Vladimir Putin's image who is one of the key figures of Russian and international politics.
