Abstract. The author considers the questions of art workers' financial condition in the soviet culture formation period by the materials of Middle Volga region, for the first time in regional historiography describes in detail the problem of various artistic intelligentsia units' labour remuneration and touches upon such aspects as labour remuneration system, wage rate, its dependence on objective and subjective factors.
