Abstract.
The article is the interdisciplinary work written at the junction of social history and city history. The author considers one of the privileged classes of Moscow Russia - the clergy - as an integral part of the population of Kitai-gorod - one of the oldest districts of the capital, and makes the conclusion about Kitai-gorod historical functions changes during the XVIIth century.
