Abstract.
The author discusses the analogy between the method of intra-shot montage and one of the compositional techniques of picturesque portrait image disclosure where it is possible to single out integral fragments-shots in an image, and specifies the functional essence of the method of expressive portrait painting means composition analysis, proposed by S. M. Eizenshtein on the basis of this analogy.
