Abstract.
The author shows that M. Gor'kii's novel Confession is not only the clear evidence of the great Russian writer's spiritual search, who had considerable influence on Russian culture, but also the artistic reflection of the ideological atmosphere of uncertainty, in which Russian society was sinking before revolution, and by the material of the story reveals the basic pre-conditions and essential features of god-creation philosophy and ideology, which became one of the Bolshevik revolution ideological sources and the program of socialism building in Russia.
