Abstract.
The authors discuss the licensing system used for nuclear power plants in the USA, pay special attention to licensing normative-legal regulation, analyze the legal material of the judicial decision on Maine Yankee case, which reflects the advantages and disadvantages of nuclear power equipment licensing, and emphasize social control difficulties in the decision making process of license granting.
