Abstract.
The author considers the questions of autobiography study and its role in the philosophical understanding of existence, pays special attention to the problem of the development and understanding of a man's own life in the text of his autobiography, and suggests determining autobiography as the means of self-understanding, a man's expression of his I as the phenomenon, which manifests itself via text.
