TAR EXTRACTION OF APPANAGE PEASANTS FROM EUROPEAN NORTH OF RUSSIA

Abstract.
The author analyzes the history of tar extraction craft and its significance in the life of appanage peasants from the European North of Russia, shows that this type of occupation involved about a half of appanage peasants in the region, and nearly all the production was exported, and mentions that the attitude of Appanage Department and Treasury to north tar extraction did not contribute to production technology improvement, output increasing and the rise of peasants' income level from the craft.
