APPEAL OF FRANKLIN ROOSEVELT TO ADOLF HITLER ON 15 APRIL 1939 AND AMERICAN-GERMAN RELATIONS

Abstract. The author considers the essence of the peacekeeping appeal of the U.S. President Franklin Roosevelt to the Reichschancellor of Germany Adolf Hitler, which took place on April 15, 1939, reveals the goals of Roosevelt, and also analyzes in detail the response address of Hitler in the Reichstag, in which the Fuhrer rejected the proposed initiatives, criticized the U.S. foreign policy and presented the aggressive actions of Germany in international arena as reasonable steps towards the restoration of historical justice broken by Versailles treaty.
