Abstract.
The author considers Kazan' lower middle class social status on the basis of the analysis of economic and professional activity revealed by act records in the brokerage accounts book of Kazan' of 1818, pays particular attention to the problem of the revelation of lower middle class real social characteristics through the prism of act sources, and tells that the research of these texts makes it possible to determine the hierarchy of various groups statuses and social prestige within lower middle class emphasizing the persons of low, middle and high social rank.
