Abstract.
The author analyzes “Pskov Suite” for balalaika and piano by K. Volkov, which is a vivid reflection of the modern search of living composers, writing for balalaika, in the context of national-genre sphere; in the suite, which is a sphere of the interaction between the folk melodic fundamental principle and the modern techniques of composing, reveals the characteristic features of its musical organization, mentions among them sonorous effects, as well as such type of texture organization as pointillism, and in addition emphasizes the features of the metro-rhythmic system in the composition, where rhythmic irregularity is used.
