BIBLICAL MEANINGS TRANSFORMATIONS IN CONTEXT OF PHILOSOPHY OF UNTRANSLATABILITY

Abstract.
The author researches the untranslatable aspects of the Tanakh and Septuagint texts in order to show how the untranslatability of some key religious notions influenced the character of sacred text interpretation in the writings of the Jewish religious thinkers and the Greek Fathers of the Church, and shows that the formation of the linguistic and semantic universes of the Jewish and Christian traditions is often conditioned by the specificity of sacred text language used by this or that religious tradition.
