CHARLES TOURNEMIRE AND MAURICE DURUFLE: TEACHER AND LEARNER

Abstract. The article is devoted to one of the pages from the biography of great French musician of the XX th century Maurice Durufle, which is little studied in the national musicology. Lessons with Charles Tournemire had an important impact on the development of Durufle as a composer, organist-performer. The article describes Tournemire’s pedagogical methods, reveals the influence of the famous composer, organist and improviser on young Durufle. The complicated relations of two bright and unusual creative individuals are revealed.
